- Where did you get the research to support your comment that "kids who learn about the risks of drug use from their parents are less likely to smoke marijuana than kids who learn nothing from them?"
An Attitude Tracking Survey conducted by the Partnership for a Drug-Free America in 1998 found drug use significantly lower among kids who've learned a great deal about drugs at home. For example, among teens that learned nothing at home about the risks of drugs, 45 percent have used marijuana. Among teens that learned a little, 33 percent have used marijuana. Among those who learned a lot, only 26 percent reported using the drug.
The 1998, the Partnership Attitude Tracking Study surveyed 2,258 pre-teens, 6,852 teenagers and 809 parents. This and other similar studies by the Partnership are available online at http://www.drugfreeamerica.org/research.
